AOJ STUDENTS WIN AT 2016 IBJJF NOGI WORLDS

November 09, 2016

THIS PAST WEEKEND, AOJ STUDENTS COMPETED IN THE LAST MAJOR TOURNAMENT OF 2016, THE IBJJF NOGI WORLDS IN DALY CITY, CALIFORNIA. PROFESSOR GUI HAD THIS TO SAY: “THIS YEAR WAS AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE FOR ME AS A PROFESSOR. SOME OF THE KIDS FROM THE AOJ KIDS PROGRAM STARTED COMPETING IN THE JUVENILE DIVISION AND WE ALSO HAD NEW JUVENILE’S THAT JOINED THE TEAM THIS YEAR, GIVING US THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE THE BEST JUVENILE TEAM OF THE YEAR. WE CAPTURED THE “OVERALL TEAM TITLE” FOR THE JUVENILE DIVISION IN EACH OF THE MAJOR IBJJF TOURNAMENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. HAVING THEM PREPARE FOR THE COMPETITIONS AND COLLECT THESE TITLES ALONG THE YEAR MADE THE WHOLE TEAM MUCH BETTER AND MORE CONFIDENT. I HAVE GREAT PLANS FOR THE COMPETITION TEAM IN 2017 AND I CAN’T WAIT TO START PUTTING THE WORK IN TO MAKE IT HAPPEN.”

AOJ COACH BRAD JOHNSTON WON THE ADULT / BLUE BELT / LIGHT FEATHERWEIGHT DIVISION AFTER FOUR FIGHTS. AOJ COACH TAINAN DALPRA WON DOUBLE GOLD IN THE JUVENILE BLUE BELT DIVISION. AOJ COACH SOPHIA FLORES ALSO WON DOUBLE GOLD IN THE JUVENILE BLUE BELT DIVISION. BLUE BELT ISAIH CALDERON WON THE JUVENILE / BLUE BELT / ROOSTERWEIGHT DIVISION. BLUE BELT NATE HIOTT WON THE MASTER 1 / BLUE BELT / LIGHTWEIGHT DIVISION. ON TOP OF WINNING THE OVERALL TEAM TITLE IN THE JUVENILE DIVISION, AOJ ALSO HELPED CONTRIBUTE TO TEAM ATOS COLLECTING THE OVERALL TEAM TITLE IN THE ADULT DIVISION FOR THE 3RD CONSECUTIVE YEAR.
